Guinness was adopted November 10, 2007 from LSAS. James discovered him using Petfinder.com. He hurried to the shelter to check him out, only to find that minutes earlier in the day, he had been taken home by someone else. Disappointed, we began exploring other dogs and were scheduled to have a home visit with a prospective adoptee when we received a phone call from Anne. She informed us that "Cameron" had been returned to Lake Shore. We were torn about what to do but decided that we should go meet him. We ended up taking him home that day, canceling our appointment to see the other dog. I don't remember being initially bowled over by Guinness' charm and personality. He sure was handsome, though. Having never owned a dog before, I think more than anything else on that day, I was nervous about my sudden new responsibility. Had I rushed into this decision after watching too much Dog Whisperer? Owning a high-energy breed like an APBT/Boxer mix in the city while living in an apartment would present a unique set of challenges for all of us. This said, it didn't take long before Guinness began teaching me about the many surprising rewards of dog ownership.
Created December 03I've adopted two dogs through LSAS...Belle in January 2007 and Rusty in July 2008!
